PROGRAMS AND MEETINGS

Adult Education - Bible study for adults each Sunday. The class will usually study the lectionary readings for the day.

Advent Festival - Adults and children meet during December each year to prepare Christmas ornaments, wreaths, and gifts. Lunch provided.

Alcoholics Anonymous - Monday Through Friday, Noon to 1:00 PM.

Carpenter Shop - Meets in the basement at 9:30 AM on Sundays. Open to children in third grade or older. They prepare wooden items under adult supervision. The shop is available at other times to adults with experience in carpentry and power tools. Trustee approval is required. Consult the church office for details.

Choir - Senior Choir rehearses at 9 AM Sundays September through June.

Church Information - Meetings are announced in the Sunday Bulletin and the newsletter.

Church Meetings - Fall (Budget): October. Spring (Annual Meeting, Election of Officers): April. A potluck luncheon precedes each meeting. All are welcome.

Church School - For students three years of age through grade 12. Meets at 10:30 AM September through June.

Communion Services - First Sunday of the month and at other times set by the Board of Deacons.

Confirmation Class - For junior and senior high school age. Classes from October through May are scheduled by the Pastor, usually every other year.

Crib Room - Child care available Sundays during Choir Rehearsal, Adult Education, and the Worship Service for infants through five years of age.

Deacons' Fund - Maintained by the Board of Deacons, it is used to assist those in need. A separate offering for this fund is received on Communion Sundays. Disbursements are made confidentially by the Pastor. Amounts over $50 require the concurrence of the Senior Deacon.

Fair Committee - Composed of those responsible for operating the Friendship Fair (see below) in November. Meets on call of the Chair.

First Spanish Christian Church, Disciples of Christ - Sundays, 11 AM to 1 PM. Meets in McGown Chapel.

Flowers - To donate memorial or other flowers for the Chancel, call the church office (323-0200).

Food Trunk - Staples donated by members of the congregation are received at any time through the year by the Outreach Committee and taken to Person to Person for distrib- ution to those in need. Trunk is located in the rear of the sanctuary. Donors are encour- raged to bring such items on Communion Sunday, usually the first Sunday of the month .

Friendship Fair - Held on a Saturday during November each year. Crafts, food, cheese, gifts, toys, books, white elephants, hardware, silent auction, plants, chestnuts, luncheon, pecans. Fun for all.

Healing Services -Special services of prayer for healing are scheduled by the pastor.

Hospitality Hour - In church parlor after worship on Sundays. A time to meet those new to the congregation and to socialize with friends. Coffee, tea, and light refreshments for adults and children.

Interfaith Council - Formerly The Council of Churches and Synagogues. Meetings are held in the evening at various houses of worship. They are announced in the Sunday bulletin and the Con-ch Shell.

Lenten Festival - Adults and children gather after services one Sunday during Lent to prepare Lenten crafts. Lunch provided.

Library - Open when the church building is open. It is located near the church parlor. Books for children and adults may be borrowed for four weeks. Audio and Video tapes are also available. Reference books may be consulted in the Library.

Pastoral Open Office Hours - Thursdays from 10 AM to Noon, September through June. Appointments can be scheduled for other times by contacting the Pastor or by calling the church office (323-0200)

Prayer Chain - A support network of persons who offer prayers for those who are experiencing any kind of crisis. Call the church office (323-0200) if you wish to become a member of the group or if you wish prayers offered for you, your family, or friends.

Reception of Members - New Members are received periodically at Sunday Worship Services. Consult with the pastor or call the church office (323-0200) for information.

Response Center - Open during the worship service for children age 5 years through 8th grade when church school is not in session. Arts and crafts projects are completed under adult supervision.

New Covenant House - Members of the congregation staff the New Covenant House Soup Kitchen at the Yerwood Center the fourth Monday of the month at 12:15 P.M. The food is prepared the previous day. Volunteers and sponsors are needed. For information call the church office (323-0200).

Thrift Shop - Open from 10 AM to 3 PM on Thursdays, September through June. Closed during July and August. Operated by the Women’s Fellowship
