We hope that you will come to FCC Stamford and see for yourself how we live the words of our motto, “No matter who you are, no matter where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome in this United Church of Christ Congregation.” We are an Open and Affirming church that values each person and respects an individual’s personal beliefs. Our mission statement reflects our diverse membership and our accepting approach to spirituality:
First Congregational Church of Stamford, a member of the United Church of Christ, is an inclusive Christian community dedicated to the following and sharing the teachings of Jesus Christ, encouraging spiritual growth, through worship, education, and outreach. We welcome and celebrate individual interpretation of our faith in covenant with God.
Sunday Morning Worship is at 10:30, followed by a time for fellowship and refreshments in our parlor. If you decide that FCC Stamford is the right place for you, we encourage you to become a member of our Congregation. Membership informational meetings, led by our Senior Pastor and a Deacon are scheduled at several times throughout the year and will help you learn more about our rich history, service and fellowship opportunities, and spiritual programs. New members are received during a Sunday Morning Worship service.
Membership is open to anyone who has been baptized, is a follower of Christ, and publicly assents to our confession of faith and the Church Covenant. The Covenant is a sacred promise made by all members to support our church and to endeavor to walk in God’s way. Members have the right to vote at church meetings and to hold office.
A prospective member may want to maintain ties with another church and therefore may choose to become an associate member. Associate member privileges are identical to member privileges, with two exceptions: (1) if an associate member moves from the community or is no longer worshiping in the church, the associate membership is terminated, and (2) associate members may serve on committees, but may not hold office. Please contact our church office about membership.
