Crawlers through Grade 7
“Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.” —Proverbs 22:6
As a congregation, we share a responsibility with parents to offer solid teachings to help direct children’s lives. We believe that what children receive from our Church School and the entire church experience will provide them with the kind of knowledge that will help guide them in their lives and enable them to experience of God’s love.
People of all ages gather together for worship. Children participate in worship services by reading scripture, lighting the candles, and serving in other ways. During the Sunday Morning Worship service, there is a pastoral message especially geared to children who are elementary and middle school ages. Following this message, the children meet in classrooms for Church School, divided by grade level.
For children in the lower grades, lessons focus on learning Bible stories and exploring ways to live their lives according to the teachings of the Bible. We use various means of inviting children into Bible stories, honoring the individual learning styles of children.
For middle schoolers, the Bible stories are supplemented with in-depth discussions of how the teachings of the Christian faith are relevant to current news events happening in the world and issues in their own lives.
All children and youth in the FCC Stamford Church School learn how to practice biblical teachings of love and caring by participating in community service projects.
For infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children, we offer a Crib Room during morning worship. With consideration of the needs and interests of the children and their parents, children of all ages are welcome to remain in the Sanctuary for the entire worship service.
Confirmation classes are generally held every other year for seventh and eighth graders. These classes are taught by our Senior Pastor along with church members who serve as mentors. On confirmation, students are officially received as members of FCC Stamford.
