Take Note:
Membership Class
Saturday, September 18, from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Parlor. The class is designed to help you discern if membership at First Congregational Church is right for you at this time in your life. Participation does not require that you join. Several people have expressed interest in membership, and we welcome others who might want to join us. Please see Senior Deacon Hilda Cook after the service or call her at 203-322-7549 if you would like to attend this session.
FCC Stamford Online Community
You now have access to the inside scoop on what's happening at our church! FCC Stamford has livened up it's Facebook and Twitter pages. With constant status updates from it's new *unidentified* reporter, what is happening in the life of the church is brought to you in a new way. We encourage you to "Like" our Facebook page and "follow" us on Twitter at @FCCStamford. Tell a friend and be a part of this new online community by participating with your own status updates, comments and pictures! Any questions or want to post pictures? Email Jenny at jenny.fcccomteam@gmail.com.
Child Care
Child care for infants to 5-year-olds is available during worship. If you are new to our congregation and would like to utilize this service, please ask an usher to introduce you to our caregivers, Elfriede Mallin and Alex McGregor.
Community Service Opportunity: Cooking for New Covenant House
Volunteers are needed to prepare and deliver meals served at New Covenant House of Hospitality on the fourth weekend each month. To participate in this important ministry, contact the church office (203-323-0200; fccstamford@gmail.com) or Susan De Simone, NCHH cooking coordinator.
Counting Our "Coins for Change"
On Sunday, August 29, we will "count the change" that we have collected for one year in our special water jar used for this purpose. Half of the money will help with our church's operating expenses, and the other half will go towards the earthquake relief in Haiti though the Wider Church Ministries of the United Church of Christ. All children are invited to help us. There will be a pizza party after we finish counting. If you can attend, please contact Diane Sileo (203-536-9532; dms21@optonline.net) so we may plan the amount of pizza we will need.
Holy Land Trip
First Congregational Church will embark upon a special trip, exploring the crossroads of our understanding of faith and community, in the Holy Land April 27-May 5, 2011. For more information contact Denise Gajadhar at dgajadhar@optonline.net.
New Library Book for Adults
Given in memory of Amy A. Ayres by church friends: The Zookeeper's Wife, by Diane Ackerman (940.53 Ach). This is the true story of the Warsaw zookeepers who saved over 300 people during World War II. They hid many of their guests in the empty zoo cages and others in their home.
